Kenai Fjords National ParkThe 300 square mile Harding ice field caps the Kenai Mountains on the southern Kenai Peninsula and sends scores of glaciers into the nutrient rich Resurrection Bay. This is the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Our access to the park is via the small harbor town of Seward. The most common way to visit the park is on one of the popular wildlife/glacier cruises. From these specialized vessels magnificent glaciers can be seen and heard calving ice into the sea. Abundant wildlife can be observed including humpback and orca whales, sea otters, sea lions, Dall porpoises, bears, sheep and colonies of nesting sea birds (including the adorable Puffin). For those wishing to stay on land the nearby Exit Glacier offers the chance to get close and personal with an ice field and the Alaska Sea Life Center has an impressive collection of information and marine mammals. We'll spend a full day in Seward taking advantage of the variety of activities available. HikingTake an easy stroll to within feet of Exit Glacier or hike up for impressive views of the Harding Ice Field. Tides permitting hike out to Caines Head and look for marine wildlife. Glacier and Wildlife CruisesProbably the most popular tourist activity in the area. Narrated tour boats will take you out to witness an impressive array of wildlife and glaciers. FishingSalmon and/or halibut fishing are both very popular. Half and full day charters are available. Sea KayakingThe wildlife rich Resurrection Bay is a great place to sea kayak. Half and full day trips are available. Flight SeeingFly over the ice field. Alaska Sea Life CenterVisit a wildlife research and education facility with live animals.
